There is nothing like the winter storms of the Oregon Coast, when the rain is blowing sideways, and the waves are rolling in twenty feet high... and then just as suddenly, the clouds break for a moment and the sun beams through, illuminating the layers of cloud and rain and light.
This image was inspired by just such a moment. Beginning as a photograph made on a wet and windy day on Rockaway Beach, and interpreted through digital imaging. The stone monolith visible in the background is part of weathered and sculpted volcanic flows that created this part of the coast thousands of years ago.
