Marking the inlet to Narragansett Bay, the lighthouse at Point Judith was built in 1838, though there has been a lighthouse at the point dating back to 1810. The beacon guides ships through the potentially dangerous fog-filled passage past the point and into the bay.
This image was inspired by a photograph taken at twilight, just as the evening skies were taking on the deep turquoise and mauve of a summer evening, with the lighthouse's beacon shining out over the sea. Point Judith stands watching, as the waters of Narragansett Bay and the wide-open Atlantic Ocean commingle and find their way.
