About Our Prints:

Our giclée prints are printed in small batches, each receiving individual attention.  Limited editions are signed and numbered by the artist.  Due to the individual attention that we give to each and every print, please expect your order to take about two weeks before it is ready to ship.

All our prints are made with the highest quality, fully-archival materials and inks.  They come ready for the frame of your choice.  With the great diversity of frame styles and individual tastes, we recommend that you take them to your local frame shop for matting and framing.

About the Artist:

The silver gelatin print is a different kind of creature than say a lithograph or giclée print.  Each have their benefits, but there is something about a fine silver gelatin, some kind of near-magical alchemical appeal, that makes its photochemical nature unique among printing processes.

Indeed, each print has its own character and no two, even from the same negative, are exactly the same.  Ansel Adams once referred to the process of printing a negative as something akin to the performance of a score of music:  each performance has its high and low points, and every once in a while, there is one performance that is simply astounding.  The same is true of the art of creating a silver gelatin print.

Oxidized silver is the agent that renders the tones of light and dark in a silver gelatin print, and gives it its name.  A properly processed silver gelatin print made from quality materials, also known as an archival print, can last for generations when properly cared for, with minimal or no visible alteration.

When displaying a silver gelatin print, lighting plays an important role.  Hanging on a wall with oblique overhead lighting, a print may look more dull or washed out.  But when lit with directed light, the silver in the print stands up, takes in, and casts back the stronger light in a myriad of subtly infinite silver-grays.
